Account & Profile Management

Managing credentials, GPA scores, major selections, and security.

How do I update my GPA, major, or other academic information in my profile?

You can update your academic information at any time from your Profile settings.

  1. 1 Log in to your account.
  2. 2 Click your profile picture in the top right corner.
  3. 3 Select Profile & Settings from the menu.
  4. 4 Update your GPA, graduation year, or major tags.
  5. 5 Click Save Changes.
Tip: Keep your GPA and major up to date so PrecisionMatch™ always shows you scholarships you qualify for. If your changes do not save, please reach out to our support team for help.
Can I save multiple profile versions if I am applying to different types of programs?

Currently, each Scholarship Genie account supports one primary student profile. You can add multiple intended majors and activity tags to your single profile to match with a wide range of programs. If your focus changes, you can edit your profile details at any time.

Tip: Add all majors or fields you are considering under your academic tags. If you need help tailoring your profile for very different degree paths, contact our support team.
How is my personal data secured and protected on the platform?

Your personal data is protected using enterprise-level encryption both in transit and at rest. We store your information in secure Google Cloud databases with strict access controls. We never sell your personal information to third parties.

Tip: To keep your account safe, use a strong password or sign in with Google or an Email Magic Link. Reach out to support immediately if you ever suspect unauthorized access to your account.

Scholarship Search & Matching

Understanding PrecisionMatch™, status tags, and update schedules.

How does Scholarship Genie match me with specific awards (aka how does PrecisionMatch work)?

PrecisionMatch™ automatically compares your profile details against the specific eligibility rules of every scholarship in our database. It looks at your GPA, major, location, academic year, and personal background. It filters out awards you do not qualify for and shows you the ones where you meet the requirements.

Tip: Fill out as many profile tags as possible. Complete profiles receive significantly more accurate matches. If you feel your matches are too narrow, contact support to help review your profile filters.
What do the status tags (Open, Closed, Upcoming) mean on scholarship listings?

Status tags show you whether a scholarship is currently accepting applications.

  • Open The scholarship is accepting applications right now.
  • Upcoming The scholarship opens soon, giving you time to prepare your materials.
  • Closed The deadline has passed, and applications are no longer accepted for this cycle.
Tip: Save Upcoming awards to your favorites list so you can start your essays before the application window opens. If you notice an incorrect deadline, let our team know by clicking "Report Information."
How often is the scholarship database updated with new funding opportunities?

Our database is updated continuously throughout each week with new awards and verified deadlines. Our team and automated systems review opportunities to ensure requirements and links remain active and accurate.

Tip: Visit your Matched to You tab every week to catch newly added opportunities before deadlines approach. Contact support if there is a specific scholarship program you would like us to track.

Application Process & Requirements

Document requirements, application methods, and submission tracking.

What documents are typically required under the What You Need to Apply section?

Requirements vary by scholarship, but most programs ask for transcripts, a personal essay, and letters of recommendation. Some awards also ask for a student resume, portfolio, or proof of enrollment. Each scholarship page clearly lists the exact checklist under What You Need to Apply.

Tip: Keep digital copies of your unofficial transcript and resume ready on your computer. If a requirement on a listing seems unclear, message our support team and we will verify it with the provider.
Can I apply directly through the platform via the Online Application Portal, or do I apply externally?

You use Scholarship Genie to organize requirements and write your essays, but final applications are usually submitted directly on the scholarship provider's official website. When you are ready, click the Apply on Provider Site button on the scholarship page to submit your application.

  1. 1 Prepare your answers and essays in Scholarship Genie.
  2. 2 Click Apply on Provider Site to open the provider’s portal.
  3. 3 Paste your information and upload your documents.
  4. 4 Return to Scholarship Genie and mark the scholarship as Applied to track it.
Tip: Always review the provider's portal early in case they require an account or a specific file format. If an application link is broken, contact support so we can update it right away.
How do I track the deadlines and requirements for multiple saved scholarships at once?

You can track all your deadlines and requirements in one place on your Dashboard.

  1. 1 Click the bookmark or heart icon on any scholarship to save it.
  2. 2 Go to your Dashboard.
  3. 3 Open the My Applications or Saved section.
  4. 4 View countdown timers, requirements, and application status tags in one grid.
Tip: Sort your list by Deadline to work on the most urgent scholarships first. If you need help organizing your schedule, reach out to our team for application planning tips.

EssayAssistant™ & AI Tools

Document Vault, AI Critique rubrics, and workspace tools.

How do I use the Document Vault to personalize my essays?

The Document Vault acts as the brain behind your EssayAssistant™. When you upload your personal documents (like a resume, transcript, or a past essay) to the Vault via your Dashboard, you can select up to 5 of them when generating a new essay draft.

The AI will extract your real-world achievements from these documents and weave them into the new essay's narrative, ensuring the resulting draft is highly personalized and authentic to your background.

Note on Limits: Free users cannot store documents in the Vault. Pro users can store up to 10 documents, and Ultra users enjoy expanded storage for up to 25 documents.
How does the AI Essay Critique work?

Available exclusively to Pro and Ultra members, the AI Critique feature evaluates your draft against a comprehensive scholarship rubric.

When you click "Critique Draft" in the application workspace, the system grades your essay from 1 to 10 across five categories: Prompt Fulfillment, Contextual Integration, Provider Alignment, Authenticity & Voice, and Mechanics & Flow.

It also highlights specific phrases in your text. Click on any highlighted text in the editor to view actionable, inline feedback on how to improve that specific sentence.

How do I rewrite or modify specific parts of my essay?

If you have a Pro or Ultra plan, you can use the targeted rewrite tool directly inside the editor.

Simply use your mouse to highlight a sentence or paragraph you want to change. A floating toolbar will appear above the text. You can click Concise to shorten it, Expand to lengthen it, or type a custom instruction (e.g., "Make this sound more professional") into the text box and press the arrow button. The AI will instantly replace your highlighted text with a rewritten version.

Can I restore a previous version of my essay draft?

Yes. Every time you trigger an AI generation or targeted text rewrite, the workspace automatically saves a snapshot of your editor's current state.

Click the History button in the top navigation bar of the application workspace to view a timestamped list of your previous drafts. Clicking a snapshot will ask for confirmation before reverting your editor to that exact version.

How long are my essay drafts saved in the workspace?

To keep your workspace organized and optimized, your active drafts and snapshot histories are saved automatically as you work. However, to prevent permanent clutter, any essays left in "Draft" status for scholarships whose application deadlines passed more than 60 days ago are automatically deleted.

Tip: If you want to keep a generated essay indefinitely for your personal records, we strongly recommend exporting it as a PDF or Word document before the scholarship's deadline passes.

Dashboard Navigation

Accessing saved favorites and application trackers.

Where can I view my saved or favorite scholarships from my Dashboard?

  1. 1 Log in to your account.
  2. 2 Click Dashboard in the top navigation bar.
  3. 3 Click the My Favorites tab to see all your bookmarked awards.
Tip: Click the heart icon on any scholarship to add or remove it from your favorites instantly. If saved items are missing from your view, please contact our support team.
